Hulk smash!

Everyone loves the Hulk, right? Why is that?

Maybe its because we wish we could become a massive invulnerable two year old having the biggest temper tantrum in the entire world. Maybe its because we can still remember how satisfying it was back then when we could just let it all out and SMASH THINGS.

Ah, those were the good old days.

No one would get afraid, no one would actually get hurt and a couple of people may even think it was cute. Given a functional parent, the worst that could happen would be a few minutes in the quiet corner. Certainly, we’re not talking guilt, anger management courses, restraining orders, social humiliation.

The list just goes on!

The other cool thing about the Hulk is that the angrier Hulk gets, the stronger Hulk gets. And there’s actually no limit to how angry the Hulk can get. (it’s not like the Hulk would get a heart attack or a stroke). How amazeballs is that!

Seeing as it’s the real world, if the Hulk really existed, I think that other stuff happens the angrier the Hulk gets. For example:

  • the angrier Hulk gets, the more sarcastic Hulk gets;
  • the angrier Hulk gets, the more polite Hulk gets;
  • the angrier Hulk gets, the more distant Hulk gets;
  • the angrier Hulk gets, the more tired Hulk gets;
  • the angrier Hulk gets, the sadder Hulk gets;
  • the angrier Hulk gets, the nicer Hulk gets.

The list just goes on!

How do you Hulk out? How should the Hulk get?

  1. Sometimes I do a walking meditation I call “The Hulk” down in the park. None of that delicate, slo-mo stuff for me. Foot stompin, shirt rippin, tree bustin samadhi! No dog’s getting the opportunity to piddle on MY leg, no sir!

    Ergo, the angrier Hulk gets, the more mindful he is. And that’s without irony!

    1. Hi Ricanicca,

      Welcome to the site! You know, I was thinking about all the different ways the Hulk gets and it never occurred to me that he could get more mindful. It makes sense however – there can be something about anger that can sharpen and focus the mind. My personal Hulk tends to create elaborate anguished dreams. I should try out the walking meditation Hulk you mentioned – it sounds like it’ll be a lot healthier for me.
